Ready for Some TeaBagg'n?

I know the folks on the right have become engulfed in the whole tea party thing. I myself think it's a fair protest to have. You should be able to protest against the government and it's leaders when they feel your voices are not being heard.

Also to conservatives. there is no infiltration plot by liberals to somehow sabotage or gather names on a list to give to our superiors for future reprisals. The liberal media will be there to report on the protest just like the conservative media will, just with different points of view I'm sure. We just wonder why the protest now, and not when our deficit doubled when Bush was in office.

I myself plan to be at the protest here in Chicago on April 15th. Hopefully I will be posting a story the day after on what I saw and the goings on from inside the huddled masses. I will be taking pictures and video that I will share also.

Please let boss Limbaugh know I am coming in peace and not as a spy of sorts, but as a curious American who wants to get the word out about your cause.

So while many on the left have found this silly and another right-wing agenda plot, I say to all who will be joining in on the protest.............tea bag away!

Also decided to let my conservative friends look at the secret communique from liberal headquarters........shhhhhh.

University to Obama: "Being Leader of the Free World is no Accomplishment"

Was it Oxford, maybe Yale or Princeton that will pass on giving the president an honorary degree? No, it's the prestigious Arizona State University. I was surprised to learn that the president was even speaking there, much less the school's decision not to give him an honorary degree.

I first reading about this, I initially had no problem with the school deciding not to give him the degree, it's their prerogative. Then further research into previous recipients of a degree at the school made me ponder as to why Obama did not deserve one after all.

According to the ASU State Press, ASU President Michael Crow told the committee that "significant contributions to education and society over the course of a person's career merit consideration for an honorary degree."

ASU Media Relations Director Sharon Keeler says, unlike other universities, the processes for selecting commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients are independent. She says that honorary degrees are given "for an achievement of eminence" and that Obama was not considered for an honorary degree because his body of achievements, at this time, does not fit within that criteria.

Writing two best sellers, becoming the first African-American president of the Harvard Law review, a teacher of constitutional law at a ivy league university, a community organizer, developing one of the largest grassroots organizations in the world, a civil rights attorney, a United States senator all before becoming the very first African American president of the United States in our over 230 years of existence as a country.

Barry Goldwater received his honorary degree in May 1961, three years before his Republican nomination for president and only eight years into his three decades as a U.S. senator. Sandra Day O’Connor was similarly recognized just three years in her 25 years on the U.S. Supreme Court. Other include L. Douglas Wilder, the first black governor of Virginia, and Kim Campbell, the first woman to be Canadian prime minister. Jane Dee Hull, Arizona's first elected female governor received an honorary degree.

If Frank M. Irish former science teacher and the schools first football coach who's ten year career record was 13-8 can get a degree for being the first, how come Obama can't get the same respect?

Five U.S. Soldiers Lost Their Lives Today

Support Our Troops and Military MySpace Comments and Graphics

This Easter will be a very solemn one for the families of the five brave U.S. soldiers that were killed today. The soldiers were killed in a massive suicide truck bombing near the headquarters of the Iraqi national police in the northern city of Mosul.

It was the deadliest attack against American soldiers here in 13 months and the second in Mosul since February, when four soldiers were killed in a suicide car bomb attack against their patrol.

I want to send my deepest sympathies out to the families of the heroes. The dangers our men and women face around the world will never subside, which gives all the more meaning to the bravery and heroism that is the United States Military.

Republican Congresswoman Wants Asians to Change Their Names So She Can Pronounce Them

Texas state Rep. Betty Brown (R) on Tuesday offended Asians by stating when they come to America they should change their names to make it easier for other Americans to deal with because they are to hard to pronounce:

Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese — I understand it’s a rather difficult language — do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?” Brown said.

Brown later spoke to Organization of Chinese Americans representative, Ramey Ko and said, "Can’t you see that this is something that would make it a lot easier for you and the people who are poll workers if you could adopt a name just for identification purposes that’s easier for Americans to deal with?”

I guess Ms. Brown must have forgotten that this is America and we don't change our names to make things easier for people like her.

She also must have forgotten about other ethnic backgrounds like German,Polish, African,Arab etc... that have names that idiots like her might find challenging to say.

Calls for Brown to issue an apology by democratic leaders in the state brought the following response, "Democrats are trying to blow Brown’s comments out of proportion because polls show most voters support requiring identification for voting". Berry said the Democrats are using racial rhetoric to inflame partisan feelings against the bill.

“They want this to just be about race,” Berry said. Personally I think this is more about being an idiot.

UPDATE: Congresswoman Apologizes (AP)

State Rep. Betty Brown, R-Terrell, issued an apology Thursday for the comments made during a House Elections Committee hearing on April 7.

Brown said the remark came during a conversation on the difficulty of translating names and that she was referring to transliteration issues when she asked a representative of the Organization of Chinese Americans whether Asian-Americans could adopt names that "we could deal with more readily here."

Ramey Ko, the representative, had testified that people of Asian descent have problems voting because they sometimes list legal names that had been transliterated in addition to common English names on their driver's licenses or other identification.

Brown said she was not asking Ko to change his name.

New York City Councilman John C. Liu, who along with the Texas Democratic party had called on Brown to apologize, said in a statement that the apology was "a fair first step," but didn't go far enough. Liu said Brown's comments during the exchange with Ko went beyond the concept of transliteration.

Brown said in her apology that she understands the "diversity of Texas" and the "enrichment" that Asian-Americans have brought to the state.

Her spokesman, Jordan Berry, told The Associated Press on Saturday that Brown's comment was being used by opponents of voter identification to obscure the real issues involved.

"Ninety percent of Texans _ Republicans and Democrats _ want the voter ID legislation," he said, referring to a bill recently passed by the state Senate that would require photo identification to vote. "Let's move forward."

Barney Frank Gets His Panties in a Bunch

I have never been a big fan of Barney Frank. Being a democrat does not mean I side with everyone on the left. I have had a problem with him ever since he has thrown his hands in the air over having any role in the sub-prime crisis. He refuses to except any blame whatsoever.

A conservative Harvard law student (Joel) and Frank debated over how Frank should have handled his role as the House Chairman of the Financial Services Committee. Frank was at Harvard University for a speech at the Kennedy School of Government.

Frank said the student wasn't backing up his claims, invoking some laughter from the crowd, and the student told Frank he wasn't answering his question.

For whatever reason Frank turned a simple question into a soundbite for television. All he had to do is give an answer, but instead he attacked. Going into attack mode is the first sign of guilt:

Bush Feared, Obama a Pushover?

That's pretty much the strategy for the right-wing party. Whatever we can blame the president for, let's do it.

Today pirates seized an American based vessel from Norfolk Virginia. The ship was taken at about 7:30 a.m. local time, 280 miles southeast of the Somali city of Eyl, a known haven for pirates, a spokesman for the United States Navy said. It is owned and operated by Maersk Line Limited, a United States subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, the Danish shipping giant.

Within hours of this story breaking, the 20 man American crew had somehow taken back control of the ship and sent three of the four hijackers fleeing, unfortunately with the ship's captain who they are holding hostage.

While I hope and pray for the safe return of the ship's captain back to his family back home, I hardly would look to blame the new administration for an American vessel getting captured. However, it would seem that's exactly what RedState.Com is trying to do with a post there today.

"Piracy in this part of the world has been a growth industry, but this is the first time an American vessel has been seized. And it’s hard to imagine the pirates failed to notice that their prey was flying an American flag. Have U.S. ships been spared until now because pirates feared the last president more than they fear this one, or is it merely coincidence?" -- Brian Faughnan,Red State

I found this to be very laughable. George W. Bush was feared throughout the world? When they attempted to capture the U.S. cruise ship in December last year they did not seem to worried about Bush then.

When that reporter threw a show at our previous president he feared him too, huh? When the Russians told him to go to hell when they ignored Bush's request to not continue the attack on Georgia, that was fear? Was Chavez quaking in his boots when he said "The devil came here yesterday," referring to Bush, who addressed the world body during its annual meeting. "And it smells of sulfur still today."

Fair criticism is okay on both sides, just keep the bullshit to yourself.

Troops Give Obama Plenty of Love Today

Obama's first trip to Iraq since becoming Commander in Chief has gone off as a huge success. The troops responded well to our new democratic president. We know the right hates to see this:

Limbaugh, A Brainwashed Nazi?

A republican caller on the Rush Limbaugh show today expressed his disappointment with Rush Limbaugh during the 2008 presidential election. Charles, a caller from Chicago (classic south side accent) said radio personalities like Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Sean Hannity were to partially blame for the outcome of the election because of their constant support for torture and fear mongering.

Charles is a life long republican and is a World War II veteran, who really laid into Limbaugh over his support of torture. Charles referred to Limbaugh as a brainwashed Nazi (he was referring to the fact that the Nazis did torture and kill). Limbaugh went on to call him ignorant and stupid for his remarks.

I do understand why people in this country support torture to get information to stop those who want to do us harm, but in the same instance, is it okay for the terrorist to do the same to ours? It's happened before, and what did we call them? Animals.

It was nice to see a war vet and a republican voter stand up for what this country is supposed to be, honor, liberty and freedom, not tyranny, torture and fear.

Glenn Beck Crosses the Line Again

What's the best way to get another psychopath riled up so he'll go out and kill a politician? Have him watch the Glenn Beck show. The "Jerry Springer" of political shows once again shows the conservative's have only one weapon against the Obama administration and the democratic party....... insight fear and panic:

Michele Bachman District Has Highest Foreclosure Rates in Her State

Michelle Bachman is either on the radio or television every other day. She gets the air time not because she is a diligent hard working congresswoman for her state and district, but because she will undoubtedly relay something to the audience that would make the guys with the tin foil hats run for their bunkers.

Her theory about future reeducation camps under the Obama administration is just one of the latest & many strange and delusional subjects this woman believes.

Meanwhile her district is currently the highest in foreclosures in the state of Minnesota. Instead of making the most of the air time she receives, she continues to make herself look like a moron and embarrasses her party each and every time she opens her mouth.

A Coffin, a Flag, a Photograph

For the first time in 18 years, the Pentagon granted the news media access on Sunday night to cover the arrival of a coffin to Dover Air Force Base from overseas.

The coffin, draped in a flag and bearing the body of Air Force Staff Sgt. Phillip Myers of Hopewell, Va, was unloaded from a government aircraft by the military honor guard. Sergeant Myers, 30, was killed by an improvised explosive device near Helmand Province in Afghanistan on April 4, according to the Defense Department.

A ban on news coverage of returning war dead, which had been in place since the Persian Gulf War in 1991, was lifted by the Obama administration following a review of the policy by Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

In the hours leading up to the transfer of Sergeant Myers’s corpse, Air Force officials received the consent of his family members — per the new policy — to grant members of the news media permission to be on hand.
